Ended up getting a used fuel tank from a Mack truck - $150. It’s 40 gallons and just fits between the camper and the air filter, with an inch or two to clear on each side.

unfortunately with my design the standard fuso fuel tank won’t fit….so i’m looking for another. this one from an international truck seems like it should work, although i might need to remove the steps.

getting the sheet metal on the floor…i used the shear and sheet metal brake at work to get the pieces in the right shape and size. since i’m trying to get the floor as low as possible (to keep the overall height low) it ends up being pretty complicated.

using 18 gauge steel sheet over the wheel wells…there’ll be 2 in foam glued to this which hopefully will give some rigidity.

flex test…the idea of the mounting system is to allow the truck frame to flex as the axles articulate on rough terrain, without transferring those stresses to the camper box.
